Digital Gardener Summit

Digital Gardener Summit

The Digital Gardener Summit is an annual gathering of educators, administrators, and innovators interested in digital literacy, digital creativity, and digital learning. As with last year, the 2025 DG Summit will be opening to participants outside of IU and operating across two locations:

  • May 21, 9-2pm ET @ IU Indianapolis :: Innovation Hall 101
  • May 22, 9-2pm ET @ IU Bloomington :: Student Building 015

Both events will feature identical programming: invited speakers and panel discussions; success stories and examples of digital integration in teaching and learning; critical conversations on GenAI, digital innovation in the classroom, and pedagogy and practice; and hands-on workshops focused on emerging topics/practices to allow participants to develop confidence within these areas.

Event Information

The programming for this year's Digital Gardener Summit will focus on hands-on, guided engagements with Generative AI. It will feature four sessions that progress in complexity and practice.

  • Solving a Problem: Using AI from Start to Finish
    This session will guide users through a systemic approach to working with AI. It will focus not only on how to begin to engage with AI (prompt engineering) but how one moves from that initial prompt to completing a project with an AI collaborative partner
  • AI and Other Media: Adobe Firefly, Notebook LM, and more
    In this session, participants will work with GenAI platforms that focus on non-textual representations and creations. Using tools like Adobe Firefly and Notebook LM, participants will get a chance to play with different kinds of generative engagements.
  • AI Assistants for the Classroom
    This session focuses on helping students learn to build AI Assistants for their work in your course. It features a “consultant” approach to student engagement with AI, one rooted not only in active participation but to foster critical conversations about ethics, use, and the role of AI in one’s work/field of study.
  • Building a Specialized Agent: what, why, and how
    This final session focuses on creating Specialized Agents in AI platforms. These agents help to customize your experience with generative AI platforms, as they are created to operate for specific needs—including working with designated data sources and organizational knowledge sets as well as automating tasks and executing processes.
